Strong CARING
Reliable CONSERVATIVE
WHY AM I RUNNING FOR ANCHORAGE ASSEMBLY

First, I want you to know that I speak from the heart, and not as a politician, for which I do not do very well with the powers at hand. My only assurance to my constituents is what you get from me is; honesty, hard work, and an outspoken voice for our community and city.

I am strongly concerned about the course our city, state, country and American culture. More recently than ever, our culture and communities have been under assault for the sake of “Change.”

I believe Anchorage experienced its most extreme accomplishment of “Change” from the last 6 years of Mayor Begich’s Administration taking us on a course of heavy spending, extreme partiality for the purpose to fulfilling political favors; and an agenda that was programmed to propel him to higher office. All this was on the backs of the property owners in this city. In 6 years the city budget experienced its largest increases than any other administration before. In particularly, this could not have happened without the help of the then majority moderate “conservative” Assembly for approving the expenditures for most of those years.

From 2005-2008 as a member of the Assembly, I was a proven independent conservative, working at times alone, made several attempts in challenging the former administrations spending agenda, and even voting “NO” on the increased 2006-2007 budget. At the same time, responding to your complaints, working close with the community to address your concerns; such as getting our streets cleared, and paved; working to get markets in our community close to our homes; acquire East Anchorage’s share of supporting our youth programs; and always concerned and addressing the gang problem we were facing at that time.

I am concerned that the lack of experiences, maturity, with one candidate, and solid connections to city unions of the other, that both are so-connected to their political parties hierarchy, will continue to allow both “followers” and “connected” candidates that will give us the same; or nothing at all. Currently only our Mayor is the stop gap to more spending and property taxpayer salivation if he stays on course.

Paul Bauer is for limiting the size of government at all levels, so business and entrepreneurship can flourish; to say that our politicians in government cannot do everything for us, and should not; for a city that does not become a major employment center off the backs of us taxpayers; and for our neighborhoods and our children are safe, and given the proper American traditional education our money can afford.

I promise you results to assist in achieving these goals with you and me.

Paul Bauer
